Intelligent-Waves
The electromagnetic simulation software packages, which are used for modeling and simulation of Radio Frequency (RF) and Antenna applications, are very expensive. In addition to the high prices of these software packages, the user doesn’t have any access to the source code in order to modify the program according to his applications.
I have PhD and postdoctoral fellowship in the Finite Difference Time Domain (FDTD); and more than 10 years of industrial experience in developing commercial electromagnetic software packages based on the FDTD method and other computational methods.
We are planning in this project to develop open 3D FDTD source which will be different than the academic electromagnetic codes while it will have same generality and facilities as the commercial electromagnetic software packages. In addition we will develop a method for using scripts that will give the user the ability to modify in the software.
This open source will be used for electromagnetic modeling and simulation of varieties of applications including:
- Antenna Design
- Antenna radiation characteristics
- Deign of RF components including coaxial and waveguide components, planar structures, attenuators, directional couplers
- Design if microwave circuits and microwave filters
- Electromagnetic Compatibility and electromagnetic inference (EMC/EMI)
- Electromagnetic effect of lightning strikes
- Near field and far field animations
- Metamaterial structures
Antenna Design: including wire antennas, microstrip antennas, waveguide/horn antennas, phased array antennas, reflector antennas, dielectric resonators, ultra wideband (UWB) antennas
Microwave Circuits and Microwave Filters: The scattering matrix (S-matrix) can be displayed over a wide frequency band using Intelligent-Waves.
Although this open source will be used mainly for high frequency applications, it will cover certain low frequency applications such as lightning strikes.
